How a kitchen remodel runs
Walkthrough and scope
We walk the space with you, learn how you use it, and define the scope and finish level before design starts.
Design
Our residential designer draws the plan. Structural engineering and Title 24 are added only when the work calls for them.
Fixed estimate
We walk the final design with our licensed trades, collect their numbers, and give you one written estimate.
Build and handoff
When a permit is required, it is issued before work starts. Then scheduled work, milestone payments, weekly dashboard updates and a final walkthrough.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in North County San Diego?
It depends on size, finish level and whether walls, plumbing, gas or electrical move. Our online estimator asks five quick questions and gives you the typical range for a project like yours. Your fixed price comes after design and a walkthrough with our trades.
What is a Cosmetic Upgrade?
A Cosmetic Upgrade updates the kitchen without moving plumbing, gas or electrical: new or refaced cabinets, countertops, backsplash, fixtures, flooring and paint. It is faster to start and often does not need a permit.
Do I need a permit to remodel my kitchen?
Only when the work calls for it. If plumbing, gas, electrical or walls move, a permit is required and we pull it and schedule every inspection. A Cosmetic Upgrade that keeps the layout and utilities where they are often does not need a permit.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Most kitchen remodels take 6–10 weeks of construction once design is final and materials are ordered. A Cosmetic Upgrade is usually faster.
Can we live at home during the remodel?
Most clients do. We set up a protected work zone, keep the rest of the house clean, and help you plan a temporary kitchen.
Who does the work?
Elkins Build Group is the licensed general contractor of record, and every trade, from framing to electrical to plumbing, is a licensed specialist carrying general liability insurance, working under our contract. We schedule them, inspect their work, handle any permits and inspections, and you have one point of contact the whole way.
