How a whole-home remodel runs
Constraints before design. Scope before pricing. Expectations before construction.
Walkthrough and scope
We walk the space with you, learn how you use it, and define the scope and finish level before design starts.
Design
Our residential designer draws the plan. Structural engineering and Title 24 are added only when the work calls for them.
Fixed estimate
We walk the final design with our licensed trades, collect their numbers, and give you one written estimate.
Build and handoff
When a permit is required, it is issued before work starts. Then scheduled work, milestone payments, weekly dashboard updates and a final walkthrough.

Whole-home remodel questions
What is a whole-home remodel?
Several rooms or the whole house remodeled as one project: kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, lighting and layout changes, run on one schedule by one general contractor.
How much does a whole-home remodel cost?
It depends on how many rooms, layout changes and finishes are involved. We price it from a finished design and real bids from our trades.
Do I need a permit for a whole-home remodel?
Only when the work calls for it. If plumbing, gas, electrical or walls move, a permit is required and we pull it and schedule every inspection. A Cosmetic Upgrade that keeps the layout and utilities where they are often does not need a permit.
Can we live in the house during a whole-home remodel?
Sometimes, if the work is phased room by room. For larger scopes most families move out for part of the build. We plan the phasing with you before work starts.
Is it better to remodel everything at once?
Often. One design, one schedule and, when needed, one permit set usually cost less and take less time than several separate projects.
Who does the work?
Elkins Build Group is the licensed general contractor of record, and every trade, from framing to electrical to plumbing, is a licensed specialist carrying general liability insurance, working under our contract. We schedule them, inspect their work, handle any permits and inspections, and you have one point of contact the whole way.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Qualifying homeowners can check options through Acorn Finance in a couple of minutes, with no impact to their credit score.
